Welcome to The West Yellowstone Fly Shop and Saving The World Fly Fishing Co. Based out of West Yellowstone, MT, we are an outfitting business specializing in guiding and teaching anglers of all ages and skill levels as well as traveling to exotic and fabled angling destinations. We spend summers fishing and guiding the waters of southwest Montana and the winter months pursuing trout in Patagonia, Argentina.
Our goal is to teach and promote fly fishing as a fun and exciting way to enjoy life and experience nature while stressing the importance of conservation and giving back more than you take from any situation. In other words, saving the world through fly fishing.

Good News! Yesterday afternoon we received word that crews have been able to control flows out of Hebgen Dam; current flows are around 2,200cfs and will be reduced over the next four days.
Fall is here! Overall September has been a good month on the water. We have had a mix of bright sunny days and cloudy cold ones. Baetis hatches have been decent, especially on cloudy days, and will become more consistent as weather cools. Expect more migratory fish to move through the Madison system and tributaries like the Gibbon and Firehole below the falls. Pay attention to water temps this time of year, best fishing will often be during the middle of the day when insects are active.

Through our guiding and teaching in Montana and Yellowstone we support:
Justin and his wife Rachel had their baby girl on August 27th! The fly shop will remain open through the September, and available for guide trips again in late October.
